I saw these on twitter and thought I'd share. Hope they're not old.

Also, Azuma Kiyohiko drew this for the 40th anniversary of Urusei Yatsura.

Is Urusei Yatsura good? I hear it's a classic but some classics are kinda boring.
I know there are countless hidden references to it in Star Trek the New Generation, which is greatest ST.

The Next Generation?
References like what?

Yes, of course I meant Next Generation. It's my favourite ST show, too. I can't believe I messed it up, I feel silly AF now.
>References like what?
Well, they seem to be blink-and-you-miss-it things, but also if I watched the whole show again without blinking I'd miss'em becsuse I don't know Urusei Yatsura. They reference other anime too, some that I knew when I watched Next Generation, but I didn't catch any. There were hidden things.
But I mean, if someone tells you the writers of a Star Trek show were massive nerds who watched anime even when anime was very obscure in America I don't think you'll die of shock.

http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Operation_Lovely_Angel
>The name "Operation Lovely Angel" comes from an okudagram shown in the briefing lounge, which shows three of the system's planets, code-named Kei, Yuri, and Totoro. Two of the planets' names come from characters in a hit anime series, The Dirty Pair, which was popular among the TNG production crew. (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion) The main characters Kei and Yuri preferred to be known as the "Lovely Angels," yet were almost always universally referred to as "The Dirty Pair". The remaining planet was named after the titular character out of the Hayao Miyazaki animated film Tonari no Totoro or My Neighbor Totoro.

Actually, this was drawn for the series' 30th (or I think the 35th) anniversary, as there was a then-new reissue of the manga going on at the time and each of the volumes had art in the back drawn by guest artists who were influenced by this series/were big fans, Azuma being one of them; another artist I remember reading up who drew a piece was Tetsuo Hara.

definitely watch the movie urusei yatsura 2: beautiful dreamer. it's easy enough to figure out the character dynamics without prior experience and it's a genuinely incredible film. it's mamoru oshii, dude who did ghost in the shell, but this is much better than his later stuff.

if you like that, maybe try the manga/tv series? it's one of the most significant precursors to all the anime romantic comedies that came after it and it's much better than almost all of those. it's light reading/viewing but fun.
