is there somewhere i can read about the history of this place? i think i found it in one of those imageboard directories, or maybe i was looking for osaka pics. has it always been this slow? how old is this place? i must say it's pretty comfy, sad to see there's not much activity.

I wonder if there's any kind of recorded history of iichan/wakachan. Couldn't find anything with a cursory google search.

Just checked back some of my records, and the earliest references I have were from around 2006 and it was hosted on chiyochan.net. It's quite likely it was around before then, but I wasn't really involved in anything else on iichan so not sure when it stopped being associated.

I don't really have an order or timeline for these but I know it was hosted on chiyochan.net, koichan.net, server50734.uk2net.com, wakachan.org, and shimauu.net at least (I think the last one was around 2012).

Looking at >>1 it's been hosted here since December 2015, there may be more history in that thread.

I think it was on koichan when I found it, around 2006 or so.

I don't remember the server50734.uk2net.com host.

I think a board archive might have been used as the start, the first(?) post starts at 130003:
http://web.archive.org/web/20080705031744/http://server50734.uk2net.com:80/azu/res/130003.html

here's a post from you: http://web.archive.org/web/20080705195449/http://server50734.uk2net.com:80/azu/res/113128.html

Hard to believe it's been almost a decade and a half.

>has it always been this slow?
So ~4200 posts in 5 years on AXYPB is what, two posts per day?
Looking at the first and last posts on wakachan on archive.org, there's ~33,000 posts in ~5 years, or 15 posts/day or so. Pic related wasn't far from the truth some days.

Was it actually good?
I mean, I remember watching it shortly after I finished Azumanga many years ago, and it was cute and a little funny, but I think aside from the theme song (which I still catch myself humming from time to time) I really don't remember much about it.

I always wondered about that myself, and then recently someone posted the original of that image in the Discord (which of course I can't find now).

That's where the seam between the 2 page spread was, so part of the image is missing where the seam was photoshopped out.

Now that you point that out, if you follow that line up and down you'll find flaws in the photoshop in a lot of places that are just less obvious because it's not things you'd focus on.

This is a thread to comment and post things from the manga that weren't in the animation.
Like the fact that Osaka and Chiyo worked together at Magnetron Burger, (which is an obvious parody of McDowell's), and the fact that Osaka wasn't even born in Osaka.

Some of the jokes they didn't animate are pretty good.

Not sure where we lost you, but I don't blame you.

>>4075 is the famous "Caramelldansen." The song is in Swedish, but became popular as a meme in Japan with some of the lyrics being misheard as Kansai-ben. In Japan it's colloquially known as the "Uma Uma Dance" (potentially either "Horse Horse dance," or "Yummy Yummy Dance").

The first line of >>4078
>eansa med oss, klappa era händer
translates to English as "Dance with us, clap your hands,"
but also sounds like, "barusamiko-su yappa irahen de" (バルサミコ酢、やっぱ いらへんで), which roughly means "Turns out we don't need any balsamic vinegar" (in Kansai dialect, which is the region Osaka is from).

There's also an episode of Lucky Star where Tsukasa gets briefly obsessed over balsamic vinegar (or at least the words "balsamic vinegar") so there's a good deal of fan art featuring her with a bottle of balsamic, which is why I posted that.

Okay, so do you remember the episode where Osaka thinks breaking chopsticks is a worthy accomplishment? As a westerner, I have devised a new system that is not yet applicable to easterners. L-R 1. Godly luck. Tab is fully in tact. Not broken at all. 2. Okay luck. Tab is broken, but still partially intact. 3. Bad luck, retainer is attached to can. 4. Horrible luck, tab has ripped off part of can. Anyone else have this thought before?

58dd66c9 No.4059

I used to compulsively collect can tabs when I was little, but I always just went for L-3 because in my mind that was their natural state.

It's to get rid of splinters. That's also why it's offensive to do it in a restaurant, because it implies their chopsticks are low quality.
